Space plays a prominent role in shaping the story because it contributes to the construction of characters and can reflect their inner selves. It contribute to their characterization. This research, based on a comparative approach, examines the ability of space to characterize the alienated hero in selected stories from two collections: "Death of Bed No. 12" by Palestinian author Ghassan Kanafani, and "My Little Prayer Room" by Iranian author Houshang Golshiri. The research concluded that the space revealed the isolation of the heroes in the selected stories, and demonstrated that this isolation was often voluntary. It also revealed the large gap between individuals and societies, and exposed those societies in the inability of their members to integrate them, including other findings that we will mention in due course.
