Publication Ethics and Guidelines
1. Publication Standards
Based on the mission of the Journal of Humanities and Applied Sciences to contribute to the development of scientific research and serve the local and global community, and in its commitment to elevating the level of published studies and ensuring their scientific credibility, the editorial board has established the following standards for publishing scientific research and articles. These rules are considered a binding reference for all researchers wishing to publish their work through the journal.
First: Field of Publication
- The journal publishes original research and studies in the fields of humanities and applied sciences.
- Research topics must be closely related to scientific and societal issues and must contribute to enriching knowledge and developing scientific thought.
Second: Originality and Innovation
- The research must be new, not previously published, and not submitted to any other entity.
- Research extracted from a scientific thesis or published under another title is not accepted unless it has been developed in an original scientific manner.
- The researcher must sign a written pledge affirming the originality of their work and its freedom from any scientific misconduct or plagiarism.
Third: General Format of the Research
- The research title must be concise and clearly indicative of its content.
- The research must not exceed (25) pages, including tables, figures, and appendices.
- The researcher must adhere to sound scientific methodology in structuring and presenting the study.
Fourth: Documentation and Methodology
- References and sources must be documented according to an approved scientific style (APA) or as specified by the journal.
- The researcher bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the information contained in their research, and the precision of the documentation and citations used.
- Tables and figures must be numbered and clearly referenced in the body of the research.
Fifth: Review and Peer Review
- All research is subject to scientific peer review by specialized experts in complete confidentiality.
- The journal commits to informing the researcher of the evaluation result (acceptance – acceptance after revisions – rejection).
- The researcher must implement the required revisions within the specified period.
Sixth: Language and Formal Quality
- The researcher must ensure linguistic integrity, precision of style, and that the research is free of spelling and grammatical errors.
- The editorial board reserves the right to reject any research that does not meet the required scientific or linguistic standards.
Seventh: Responsibility and Property Rights
- Published research expresses the opinions of their authors only, and the researcher bears the literary and legal responsibility for their research content.
- Submitted research will not be returned, whether published or not.
Eighth: Publication Procedures
- After final acceptance, the researcher sends the final version of their research electronically (Word) and (PDF).
- The research is considered accepted for publication after the issuance of a letter of publication-readiness.
- Research is published according to acceptance priority and the journal's issue plan.
- The researcher receives a copy of the issue in which their research was published.
Ninth: Additional Rules
- The researcher must adhere to research ethics and avoid conflicts of interest.
- An abstract of the research in both Arabic and English, along with keywords, must be attached.
- The journal adopts an Open Access policy while preserving the researcher's rights.
Adherence to these standards aims to ensure the quality of published research, maintain research ethics, and enhance the journal's role as a sound scientific source that contributes to serving knowledge and society. The editorial board invites researchers to comply with these standards to achieve the common goal of publishing distinguished and purposeful scientific work.
2. Publication Rules
The Journal of Humanities and Applied Sciences seeks to publish original research and studies that contribute to enriching human and applied knowledge and elevating the level of scientific research locally and globally. Based on its commitment to ensuring the quality of published research according to rigorous academic standards, the editorial board has established the following rules, which are considered a binding reference for researchers wishing to publish their scientific work through the journal.
First: Cover and Preliminary Data
- The cover must include: the research title, researcher's name(s), academic degree, university/college/department, country, email address, and year of publication.
- The research title must be written concisely and clearly express the study's objective.
Second: Abstracts
- The research must be accompanied by an abstract in Arabic and another in English.
- The abstract should not exceed one page and must be accompanied by keywords.
Third: Research Size and General Format
- The research should not exceed (25) pages, including tables, illustrations, images, and appendices.
- For research in English, the research size should not exceed (17) pages.
Fourth: Technical Formatting
In order to ensure the quality of published research and adherence to approved academic standards, research submitted for publication must comply with the following controls:
- Research Format and Layout: The research must be submitted electronically in (Word) format on (A4) size paper, with margins distributed as follows:
- Top: 2.5 cm
- Bottom: 2.5 cm
- Left: 3.15 cm
- Right: 3.17 cm
- Fonts and Spacing:
- Research in Arabic is written in (Traditional Arabic) font, size (14), with single line spacing (1).
- Main and sub-headings are written in the same font, size (16), and (Bold).
- Research in English is written in (Times New Roman) font, size (12), with single line spacing (1). Main and sub-headings are written in the same font, size (14), and (Bold).
- Title Page: The first page must include the full research title, researcher's name(s), affiliation, and the primary researcher's email address.
- Abstracts and Keywords: The research must include two abstracts, one in Arabic and one in English, neither exceeding (150) words. Each abstract must be accompanied by keywords (not exceeding six words).
- Paragraph Formatting: A first-line indent of (1 cm) must be left at the beginning of each new paragraph.
- Page Count: The research must not exceed (25 pages), including tables, figures, drawings, and appendices.
- Page Numbering: All research pages must be numbered sequentially at the bottom of the page, from the first page to the last, including pages containing maps, figures, or appendices.
- General Framework of the Research: The research must include an introduction and a methodological framework in which the researcher presents the study's problem (problematic), its importance, objectives, hypotheses, and limitations, the methodology or methodologies used, in addition to a brief review of relevant previous studies.
- Organization of Headings: The following hierarchy must be observed in dividing headings:
- Main Headings (First, Second, Third, ...).
- Sub-sections derived from main headings (1, 2, 3, ...).
- Sub-sections derived from a sub-heading (A, B, C, D, ...).
- Sub-sections derived from a sub-sub-heading (A/1, A/2, A/3, ...) (B/1, B/2, B/3, ...).
- Tables:
- The table title and numbering are written at the top in (Traditional Arabic) font, size (14) (Bold).
- The table source is written at the bottom in (Traditional Arabic) font, size (12).
- Table contents are written in (Traditional Arabic) font, size (12), and table headers in (12 Bold).
- If a table is large and requires a new page, the headers must be written again.
- The table design must be standard, avoiding decoration or unfamiliar shapes.
- Table dimensions: Before (6 pt), After (6), Line spacing (single).
Example:

- The figure or map title and numbering are written at the top or inside the figure in (Traditional Arabic) font, size (14) (Bold).
- The figure or map source is written at the bottom in (Traditional Arabic) font, size (14).
- Writing References:
First: Writing references in the text (In-text citations).
The journal follows the American Psychological Association (APA) style – 7th Edition.
- Books: (Family name, publication year). If there is a direct quote, add the page number.
- Examples: Indirect quote: Studies indicate the importance of investing in education (Al-Zoubi, 2020).
- Direct quote: "The demographic study is a historic opportunity for development" (Al-Zoubi, 2020, p. 45).
- In case of multiple authors: Two authors: (Al-Zaidi & Mansour, 2018). Three or more authors: (Al-Obaidi et al., 2019).
- Scientific Journals: The same rule applies... (Al-Taher, 2021). If a direct quote: (Al-Taher, 2021, p. 112).
- Theses (Dissertations): Treated like any book or published study. Example: (Al-Karami, 2010).
- Internet Sources: If the source has a specific author: (Al-Arabi, 2022). If the author is not mentioned, write the name of the publishing entity or the title of the site: ("Human Development Report," 2023). If the publication year is unavailable, write: (World Health Organization, n.d.).
Note: Foreign sources are written in the same manner.
Second: Writing references at the end of the research (Reference List).
- Books:
- General Form: Family name, First initial. (Publication year). Title of book (italicized). Publisher.
- Example: Al-Zoubi, M. (2020). The demographic dividend and development in the Arab world. Dar Al-Fikr.
- Articles in Scientific Journals:
- General Form: Family name, First initial. (Publication year). Article title. Journal Name (italicized), Volume number (italicized)(Issue number), page numbers. DOI or link if available.
- Example: Al-Taher, S. (2021). Demographic transformations and their impact on the Arab labor market. Journal of Economic and Social Sciences, 15(2), 101–125.
- Theses (University Dissertations):
- General Form: Family name, First initial. (Year). Thesis title (italicized) [Master's thesis or Doctoral dissertation, University Name]. University repository or link if available.
- Example: Al-Jabri, M. (2019). Population changes and their impact on development in Libya [Master's thesis, University of Tripoli].
- Internet Sources:
- General Form: Author or Entity. (Year). Page or report title (italicized). Site name or Publisher. Link.
- Example: UNESCO. (2023). Human Development Report in North Africa. UNESCO. https://www.unesco.org/reports
- In case of no author: "Page title," (Year). Example: "Migration and Development Report," (2023). International Organization for Migration. https://www.iom.int
- In case of no date: (n.d.). Example: United Nations. (n.d.). Sustainable Development Goals. https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment
Note: References are arranged alphabetically by the author's last name or the first word of the reference if no author exists.
- Books: (Family name, publication year). If there is a direct quote, add the page number.
These standards represent the organizational and layout framework for scientific research submitted for publication and are considered part of the requirements for research acceptance and peer review in the scientific journal.
Fifth: Principles of Scientific Research
- The researcher must adhere to the rules of rigorous scientific research in terms of structure, presentation, and precise terminology.
- References must be accurately documented at the end of the research.
- The researcher is fully responsible for the accuracy of quotations and citations, and the editorial board disclaims responsibility for any violations related to plagiarism or scientific misconduct.
Sixth: Peer Review and Revision
- All research is subject to scientific peer review by specialized reviewers.
- The journal has the right to request necessary revisions based on the reviewers' reports.
- The researcher must implement the required revisions within the specified period.
- The research must be free of linguistic and spelling errors.
Seventh: Researcher's CV
- If the research is accepted, the researcher must provide a brief CV including: Full name (three parts) – Academic degree – University/College/Department – Main publications or research (if any) – Email – Phone number.
Eighth: Responsibility and Property Rights
- Submitted research is not returned to its authors, whether published or not.
- The research expresses the opinions of its authors only, and the researcher bears full literary and legal responsibility for it; it does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the journal.
Ninth: Other Published Materials
- The journal publishes reports on conferences and seminars, summaries of scientific theses, and book reviews and critiques, provided the material does not exceed five printed pages.
Tenth: Publication Procedures
- After acceptance, the researcher sends the final version of their research electronically (Word) and (PDF) along with a copy on a CD.
- The research is considered accepted for publication after the issuance of a letter of publication-readiness.
- Research is published according to the journal's plan and printing priority.
- The researcher is provided with a copy of the issue in which their research was published.
Adherence to these rules aims to enhance the quality of scientific work and ensure its rigor, in a way that contributes to achieving the journal's mission of supporting scientific research and serving community issues. The editorial board invites all researchers to observe these controls when preparing and submitting their research for publication.
