peer review process
The Journal of Humanities and Applied Sciences is committed to adopting a rigorous peer-review system aimed at ensuring the quality and credibility of published research, in line with international academic standards and the criteria of the Libyan Electronic Journals Guide. The peer-review process is conducted according to the following steps:
1. Manuscript Submission and Initial Screening
-
Upon receipt of the manuscript through the journal’s electronic platform, the editorial board reviews it to ensure its relevance to the journal’s scope and publishing policies, and its compliance with research ethics and proper citation standards.
-
The manuscript is screened using plagiarism-detection software to verify the originality of the content.
2. Sending the Manuscript to Reviewers
-
The manuscript is sent to at least two reviewers with expertise in the relevant field, following a double-blind peer review policy, whereby the author does not know the identity of the reviewers, and the reviewers do not know the identity of the author.
-
Institutional and geographical diversity is taken into account when selecting reviewers to ensure objectivity.
3. Manuscript Evaluation
-
Reviewers examine the manuscript carefully using an approved evaluation form that includes criteria such as clarity of the research problem, soundness of the methodology, originality of the results, accuracy of referencing, and quality of language.
-
Each reviewer submits a detailed report recommending one of the following decisions: acceptance, acceptance with minor revisions, resubmission after major revisions, or rejection.
4. Revision Process
-
If revisions are required, the manuscript is returned to the author along with the reviewers’ comments and, after revision, is resubmitted for final review.
-
The editorial board monitors the author’s compliance with the reviewers’ comments and required revisions.
5. Final Decision and Publication
-
After all comments and requirements have been satisfactorily addressed, the editorial board issues the final acceptance decision and schedules the manuscript for publication in the appropriate issue.
-
The manuscript is published electronically on the journal’s website, with citation information made available in accordance with international standards (APA) or others as applicable.
6. Review Duration
The peer-review process typically takes between 4–8 weeks, depending on the nature of the manuscript and the author’s responsiveness to reviewers’ comments.
7. Integrity Policy
The journal prohibits any conflict of interest between authors and reviewers and is committed to maintaining strict confidentiality throughout all stages of the peer-review process.
