Abstract

This study dealt with the Derna Valley Basin through the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program and the (Global Mapper) program, as well as the (sasplanet) program and the introduction of the digital elevation model (DEM) and also the use of statistical analysis through the (spss) program, where all the programs used can know the geological structure of the study area and its topography, as well as extracting the direction of the earth's surface inclination in the study area and the direction of water flow, And extracting the rest of the information about the basin of Wadi Derna, such as determining the area of the Wadi Derna basin, the circumference, length and width of the basin, as well as the length of the main course of the basin, determining the hyposometric curve, the ranks and lengths of the waterways, in addition to the height characteristics represented in the formal characteristics, including the shape of the basin, the elongation coefficient, the rotation coefficient, the shape coefficient and the zigzag coefficient.
