Abstract
The aim of the research is to identify the concept of school administration and its objectives, to know the characteristics and tasks of the school principal, to indicate the methods and methods of selecting the principal, and to clarify the problems that hinder the work of the principal in relation to “the student, the teacher, the school building, the educational administration, the local community”. The researchers concluded that school administration is a cooperative and democratic process that can only be achieved through the collective efforts and activities of the school administration’s members and in light of the community’s goals and ambitions, and that leadership qualities, academic and educational qualifications, and long practical experience are among the most important qualities that the school principal must possess. The process of selecting a school principal is carried out according to criteria and principles, including direct election by teachers and assignment by educational authorities. In light of this, the researchers recommend working on holding in-service training courses for school principals and teachers to raise their professional competence periodically.
